"The Hourglass " (In-Depth Project)

Object of inspiration: Hand fan

The hourglass is meant to symbolise the ideal body shape society finds most "attractive". There are a lot of different shapes and sizes that are beutiful as well and unfortunately are less apreciated. In every time, period and place beauty has been defined and seemed in a different way but for a reason or another there is a standar hard to meet.
In my piece I wannted to focus in the hourglass girl  she is struggling with her shape and want  to achieve the standars she wasn't born to have and that explains her twisted stomach. She is also trapped on a cycle inside a bubble repeating the same mastakes over and over again. The color shift is her mood and the fact that no matter how good she gets to feel at one point, she always falls in the same cycle. 
The outside of the hand fan is the second part of my piece is a composition of dotted shapes, with this i wanted to explain that every shape and size its beautiful in its own way. I also intended to imitate the lace incorporated in hand fans by my way to arrange the form of the dots.
